Vote Shop not loading

There were problems with Vote Shop in the past and now they're happening again. The loading spinner just never disappears, as reported by alphabuffer

There needs to be better error reporting.

I identified some potential issues and I'm trying to fix them

Basically pwmirage.com registers a background script in your browser which loads latest PW server data and keeps it in memory. Every pwmirage.com tab fetches some data from it (like item icons). Without the background script all of this data would have to be loaded on every refresh, most likely from network. We don't want that. The background script is problematic though, it's fairly recent technology which is still shaping up and what we're doing with it is certainly unique. What worked 3 months ago may not really work today due to browser updates.

Anyway, I've just made some changes - we make much less assumptions on the background script now, hopefully making it less problematic.

I haven't heard of any problems since then. Closing
