The server was closed on April 2nd, 2023
https://pwmirage.com/forum/thread/342-we-are-closing/

It surely was empty at the time. I hope you can give us one more chance and enjoy the game now.

Also, the main page now shows who's currently online.

All of this is fixed now, no more precaution needed.

    Since this was in 2020...

The vote shop is implemented now. It's available at https://pwmirage.com/game/voteshop/

PW Mirage in 2020 was a mess. The server was up, the web editor was up, but the game didn't get any updates. Here's a word why.

Soon after our launch it appeared that changes made in the editor usually look different inside the game, or simply don't work as expected, or even break other, unrelated things. The initial editor version appeared to be very buggy and every next change required a lot of manual maintenance to work. After ~60 changes merged it was just risky to merge any more, since anything could break everything. There were design mistakes made which were not easy to fix. I was hoping to slowly work over all the issues, but there was just too much. The server stopped receiving updates not long after the launch. Within a few months all players left, leaving the population at 0.

Eventually I made a decision to rewrite the entire editor from scratch. Almost none of the previous code could be reused, it was that bad. It took a long time to get it functional. In the meantime there were suggestions from the community to forget about the editor and just use the commonly available PW server tools to fix a few issues and add a bit of new content. We could have made the server better for the moment, but it wouldn't make us any different from all those low-rate servers that were great for some time, then quickly died.

PW Mirage was always supposed to be a place for all kinds of players to call home. A long time server to chill on. And it would be nearly impossible to sustain it for long time with those cumbersome, publicly available server tools. Using them is simply not fun.

The new editor at https://pwmirage.com/editor is already proven to work reliably and have let us all create some great content. Let's keep it up, and keep 2020 behind. A similar text was available on the main page up until now, but I'm going to remove it. No more sorry, let's be great.

Note: There was no wipe, and there never will be! All characters from 2020 are left intact.

Yes, sorry - that was my fault and it happened to everyone who was online at that time. I sent an invalid packet to everyone's client while testing the discord bot.

    It shouldn't happen again :)

Good idea, that would go in pair with removing the level cap for other regular quests. There's a bunch of regular kill-50-mobs quests that can be done only within a 10-level range.

In near future we will get rid of the following crafts:

    • Wines from Hay
    • Cages from DQ
    • Inv. stones from DQ

Cages and Inv. stones will be available through the vote shop instead. Wines won't be craftable anymore - it doesn't make sense to farm Hay for that. It was the best source of farming reputation and could be considered endgame. Marriage packs can stay being craftable from Hay, but that's just a funny nuance. Rep is too much.

We're planning to make Rep farmable through other means:

    • FB
    • One-man army (huge rep boost upcoming)
    • Darkness Stamp crafts (combining them with celestone fragments + coins = more rep)

It'll be at least a week before any crafts are removed.

One-man Army is not the same anymore! The quests give much better rewards and no longer have upper level limit, although with diminishing rewards at much higher levels.

Besides Reputation and Celestones, each quest now gives 2 - 5 random crafting mats of one tier, as listed below.

    * Modified from original 40

** The quests don't reward Reputation directly. They give a Wraith Remains item that can be exchanged for reputation at the same NPC who gave you the One-man Army quest, although if your level is over 19 levels higher than the Wraith Remains level you will only get ~1/3 of the regular reputation.

As of July 17th Dice Tickets and Do-Alls can be bought inside Cube for regular coins. Dice Tickets are priced 1500 coins each. Do-Alls cost way, way more, although they are craftable from Attendance Sheet and perhaps they will be available through Vote Shop when it's out. For now we'll keep do-alls tradeable, but they will become character bound eventually because we don't want to require you to create alts just for those.

Mystical Chips or Cube Necklaces are another story - we'll be covering them later.

The maintenance ends July 6, 2021, 15:00 UTC. See the main page for a timer.

The updated server will be opened for everyone. Your old account credentials will work just fine and you'll see your old characters as they were. Only the world has changed a little bit :) A few guides may follow soon.

The previous patcher has an update prompt on launch now. In case you need to download a full client, see here: https://pwmirage.com/download/

Yup, you heard that right. After a year of silence we're going to have an update.

And hopefully more than one. The main web page was refreshed and it now contains some background info on the server: https://pwmirage.com
We had 0 players online almost all time throughout this last year. The server is up, but noone is playing. I realize the dust has settled long ago and now there's not much point in doing another "big release", because we won't catch much attention. However there's still quite a few of us that wants to play a 3-race, classic PW, and there's still a void to fill in the server market. So we're going to push all the stuff we made to the public server, hook it to the new web editor, and invite everyone to help us build this thing anew. We're starting low and just hoping to enjoy the game, enhancing it as we go.

Note: there won't be any wipe, by "building this thing anew" I only meant making new content
